Ah, yes, I did hear a report on my way to work this morning...

Tied up an 1-1 with two teams who could have a meteor and I wouldn't much care ;)

And yes, hockey season is over now. We'll all go our separate ways and return back here in September for preseason and kickoff.

And always remember, HOCKEY :rok: !

Don Cherry is gone. Out of a job. I'm not a hockey fan, but if and when y'all check into it on your own, you'll understand why it piqued my interest.

 Wow, miss just a half a day of hockey news and look WTF happens!

That being said, he was not my favorite person; he always got on my nerves a little too much. I'm feeling very indifferent to this entire situation. :dunno:

If anyone's wondering about my grandson, yes, he played a second year for the same team in Slovakia, and this year they were in the first round of finals, best out of 7, when to their surprise, the coronavirus started to spread into Central Europe. He called this morning to report that he just learned this morning the season has been declared over. He'll be home in the next 2 weeks. He's not sure if he's able to go back because the league he was in wants to concentrate on only having "homegrown" goalies from the countries where they play. He has an agent but nothing's come up so far. He's just going to play it by ear.

:dunno:

Well, now we're not sure just when the kid will be able to come home. We think he'll be able to book a flight since he's an American citizen, but who knows? Unfortunately, his GF, Lucia, was planning on coming over here for two months for a visit (end of April to end of June), but this may be a problem for her. An additional complication - she just got back to Slovakia before Valentine's Day after spending two months (that seems to be her standard length of visiting) with her parents and sister in her father's current country of employment.

China.

I can't even guess at how this will play out, but we're braced for it.

Barely any hockey to be had anywhere. Just read this morning that even the SPHL (the Southern league) will be joining the ECHL (my Reading Royals) and many other smaller leagues (along with all those leagues around the world) in cancelling out the rest of the season, and the NHL and AHL are sure to follow, but haven't done so offiially yet.

Reruns just don't do it for me, especially the ones where helmets were "optional". I worry too much to watch those.

The real kicker was - my Reading Royals were on track to win the Kelly Cup, and my Flyers have finally learnt how to play hockey right and they being talked about for the Stanley Cup this year. Doesn't it just figure? :?

Absence makes the heart grow fonder........
