$35 million for the Kennedy Center, yeah that will cure the virus and help people who need it most
Bailout postal debt, yeah that will cure the virus and help people who need it most
Airlines must be carbon neutral by 2025, or face insolvency, yeah that will cure the virus and help people who need it most
Government membership on boards who receive money, effectively beginning the nationalization of the private sector, yeah that will cure the virus and help people who need it most
Same day voter registration, and voting by mail, yeah that will cure the virus and help people who need it most
Subsidies for unions, public sector workers - including collective bargaining rights, yeah that will cure the virus and help people who need it most

That's just a small portion of what the Democrats want.

We don't need this bill. Congress, in total, is the problem. Democrats are marxists and fascists, Republicans are cowards and inept.

I saw some of the details of Pelosi's proposed deal and yikes. Over half a billion dollars for not a damn thing to do with the virus. Not that any of these packages have been all that great since I fear they'll eventually bite us in the ass.

Yep. We agree. I'm not giving the Republicans a pass, either. By hook or by crook, they're helping Marxism/Fascism/Socialism.... whatever.... sneak in the back door.

We're headed in a bad direction, and the worst part, we have no idea which direction that is, only that it's bad. I'd feel better about it if they'd at least make an honest attempt to work together.

I would feel better, if they did nothing. What was it DW used to say about going faster?

Oh yeah, sometimes you have to slow down to go faster. I saw Kurt Busch win the Food City 500 once, employing that strategy.

In this scenario, I'm of the mindset that less is more.

Couldn't hurt at this point.

They're under a lot of pressure to produce something right now, and they're just trying to hurry through their own agendas instead of giving a crap about us.

Maybe the swells of NYC are threatening to gather in mass at the Kennedy Center unless we shovel money through the loading dock? :D

Too late. It’s a free for all...unless you pay taxes. :dunno:

Americans, we see a problem and we roll our sleeves up and grab a shovel. It’s been like that since at least Pearl Harbor, and there’s always money in what we’re shoveling, but it’s always worked. Anyway....nobody in DC is listening to me.

Not reading it. Any delay by anybody is simply to shove more pork in it.

Fed government is ridiculous AND corrupt.

And before any of you Obama teat suckers get ruffled, that's a nonpartisan declaration.

When I get my stimulus check it’s going right into savings and not being touched because next year they’ll find a way to make sure I give it back and then some.

This is all going to be blamed on Trump, too. As I have said before, while Presidents have culpability, once they sign this shit....

the real problem is with the people who send it up there. It will be interesting to track how this is distributed. I wish POTUS would veto it. Imagine though, if he did that. They'd lynch him, politically, which is what they're going to do now that the debt has been kicked to the curb again, so he's damned if he does, he's damned if he doesn't.

It's the Kobayashi Maru, personified.

Trump is doing a remarkable job taking a hatchet to red tape, but let's face it (and I knew this before he won the election), there was no way he was going to take this sow out completely. It took a century to get here, it won't be fixed in four years, or eight years. Hopefully, (and yes I have hope) this nation is getting a lesson in just how fucked up our government has become. They know this too, which is why they want to take him out. Even the GOP want him gone.

He has shone a bright sanitary light on all of their debauchery and idiocy, and they don't like that. Oh nooooo, they don't like that at all.

The list is long and distinguished, but trying to saddle the guy that just got here three years ago, with all of the blame....

that is foolish, and foolhardy. And could also indicate that nothing has been learned.

This is why I don't blame POTUS, even though I wish he would veto it. The government never does anything in proportion to the problem.

For you non-Trekker's out there....

Kobayashi Maru

The Kobayashi Maru is a training exercise in the fictional Star Trek universe designed to test the character of Starfleet Academy cadets in a no-win scenario. The Kobayashi Maru test was first depicted in the opening scene of the film Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan and also appears in the 2009 film Star Trek. Screenwriter Jack B. Sowards is credited with inventing the test. The test's name is occasionally used among Star Trek fans or those familiar with the series to describe a no-win scenario, a test of one's character or a solution that involves redefining the problem and managing an insurmountable scenario gracefully.

The notional primary goal of the exercise is to rescue the civilian vessel Kobayashi Maru in a simulated battle with the Klingons. The disabled ship is located in the Klingon Neutral Zone, and any Starfleet ship entering the zone would cause an interstellar border incident. The approaching cadet crew must decide whether to attempt rescue of the Kobayashi Maru crew—endangering their own ship and lives—or leave the Kobayashi Maru to certain destruction. If the cadet chooses to attempt rescue, the simulation is designed to guarantee that the cadet's ship enters a situation that he or she will have absolutely no chance of winning, escaping, negotiating or even surviving.

this bill, that all of the usual suspects say sucks, but are going to vote for anyway.... to help the American people out of course.... :handy:

Trump is going to sign it, and with that signing, I believe Joe Biden's chances to win the Presidency greatly increase.

Read my lips, no new taxes. Remember that?

Trump vowed that socialism would never be a fact of life as long as he was President. I believe he meant it. But he's about to sign living wages into law, and to the best of my knowledge, it isn't phased out after this "crisis" recedes into memory. And there you go.

We will see what we will see.

edit to add:

For those of you who get relief, use it well. Because everybody is getting fucked with this. They're just spending money we don't have, that they're going to take from you later to use for other bullshit that isn't affordable. In a world that worked on common sense, instead of panicked insanity, this spending should be at least half of what it is.

Which, not ten days ago, was where it started, right around $850 billion.

Never let a crisis go to waste..........

I know a lot of this was in the bill that Pelosi proposed, but this didn't make it into the one that they said they agreed on Wednesday is it? I read there was an issue where some people might actually make more on unemployment than from their jobs because of an additional $600 on top of current benefits.

And $25,000,000 for Cleaning supplies for the Capitol Building makes perfect sense, because nowhere in this country does the shit flow as deeply and freely as Capitol Hill.

Almost all will vote for it because, mainly,. it's political suicide not to.

A lot of it did make it in, including the ballot harvesting bullshit. California will never be Republican again in our lifetimes, most likely. For two reasons: illegal immigration and ballot harvesting. This is going to hurt Trump, up to and maybe even including, re-election.

He will have nobody to blame but himself. He knows better, but whatever....

btw, I love alot of the pundits saying (in the past) that in the unlikely event that Bernie Sanders became POTUS, nobody in Congress would work with him to enact his marxist/socialist agenda. Well, Bernie just threatened to hold it up, using the usual commie dogma about corporations.

They caved. Bernie isn't even President, and he's getting his commie camel nose in the tent with living wages.

We got fucked on this, and way to many people, e.g., Sean Hannity, all of a sudden are turning a blind eye to the shit that made their careers. Trump knows better than this. But there you go.

Lyndsey Grahamnesty, yesterday on Hannity's radio show. Said we can't let this happen. Then by 9 pm last night, he said he was voting for it. Four month furlow, guaranteed to receive their full salary, up to a maximum of $1100 per week, for four months.

That's $4400 per month. A lot of jobs don't pay anywhere near that.

Yet, they all voted for it, and Trump is going to sign it.

Pelosi is feeling her oats. Any takers on a friendly bet that she goes for even more? Blumenthal has already stated that this may not be enough.

$2,000,000,000,000, and it's not enough? :banghead: :annoy: :handy:

My congresscreep is a lame duck. I doubt he’s showing up.

Almost all will vote for it because, mainly,. it's political suicide not to.

You may be correct on that part, but I'm not so sure about that anymore. My reasoning: Trump got elected President, so at least half the voting population said enough of the bullshit. And a lot of folks that couldn't stomach Trump in 2016, are going to vote for him in 2020, unless this bullshit derails that progress.

That's another reason this is foolish. Beside the obvious point that this virus isn't an extinction level event.

What bothers me, is that Trump isn't even going to try. He has a knack for communicating, and it has been effective. There is a reason the libtard media is attacking him viciously, even on this.

He should have tried. But, he won't.

We'll never know now, I reckon.

:dunno:

Like all fed stuff, it's too big, too convoluted, and as a result, too rife with bullshit that doesn't pertain to the core issue.

There is already talk of another stimulus or two. Here's the deal, as best as my high school education (and some college) allows, of course.

Robust and vibrant economies are not realized by printing more money. They are not realized by writing checks to people, that was their money in the first place before it was confiscated (this money hasn't even been confiscated yet)....

who can't spend it on shit because state governments are closing down the avenues of production. Economies are stimulated, maintained and sustained by production.

Production. Period.

Don't tell Mitch and the girls that though....

they're feeling real good about themselves today. After all, they just voted themselves a pay raise. It's in there, take a look see. I understand why Trump is signing this, but this is a huge mistake. Literally and figuratively. This isn't draining the Swamp, it is perpetuation of it.

McConnell is an old fucking fool. But he's good, nobody in Congress is being told to stay home from work, nor losing their paycheck.

Fuck these people. And shame on Trump.
