Van Halen, Doc Hudson cars go on display in Daytona

Post by jlb »

Van Halen-themed race car and 'Cars' movie character Doc Hudson go on local display

Van Halen never raced it. The livery on the car was a marketing strategy. The car raced at Watkins Glen International and ran one, late-season sports car event at Daytona in 2001.

The Porsche has the same color scheme as one of Eddie Van Halen’s classic guitars and the guitar's look matches the car in the museum.

Newman, who was a regular at Daytona International Speedway as a competitor in the Rolex 24 At Daytona, drove the Doc Hudson car when the movie premiered at Charlotte Motor Speedway in 2006. That year also marked his last appearance at the Rolex.

Hat tip to the Van Halen News Desk.

You are most welcome. I have to take a picture of mizz jlb's Mr. Eddie Van Raisin and post it, a sculpture she made some years ago, when our daughter was in her California Raisin phase :D

I must admit that I loved the little buggers too :rok:

Somewhere around here we still have them stored. That sculpture was placed on our 5th wheel travel trailer, along with the driver bobbleheads and track bears, that accompanied us to every NASCAR event we attended. We traded the trailer for the tractor and some cash last year, Mr. Raisin now sits on top of Donkey Kong, in the room our grandson uses for his bedroom when they stay with us. :D
