Re: Questions/suggestions/board issues
I am not sure that the migration to the new host was without errors. The ACP functions, but there are some issues with permissions. I am considering a migration to PHPBB 3.1, at least. That will not be as forgiving, e.g., some style sheets will not be compatible, rsred for example.
PHPBB 3.0.14 is the last update to PHPBB 3.0.xx, and is no longer supported. It does not mean it will not work, but it is not forward compatible with 3.1.x and higher.
Another example would be attachments. As a Founder or Administrator, posting attachments is not an issue. For Registered Users with standard permissions, any attachment over 50 KiB will be rejected as too big, despite Administrative settings to the contrary.

The attachment issue should be resolved. If the image exceeds parameters that I specified, it will appear as a link in the thread. Please report any issues in this thread. There are still ongoing issues with permissions for a handful of registered users.
All registered users that were removed for inactivity, are welcome to register again.

Re: Questions/suggestions/board issues
Added gibbs as moderator for NASCAR and Contests forums. Thanks, gibbs. Thanks to all moderators
Fixed some path and display issues with the Racin and BF_Vista styles.
RS_Vista needs some tweaking. The colors are all over the map and it is hard to read.
All other styles are functioning normally, with the following two known exceptions:
Halloween: There is an issue with returning to the User Control Panel after exiting it and returning to the main forum. The UCP will display properly if changing to Halloween from another style, but once the user exits the UCP to the main forum, a blank white page is displayed if attempts are made to re-enter the UCP.
rsred: returns an Invalid form selection when trying to vote in polls.
If there are other issues, as posted earlier, please report them in this thread.
Thanks,
SS

Re: Questions/suggestions/board issues
This error is still present. Originally, it occurred for 13 registered users. That is now down to five. Eight users who have been inactive for over three years were pruned from the forum. The following registered users still invoke this error when attempting to administer permissions for their accounts. As best as I can determine at this time, there is no impact on the ability to use the forum. The error is on the Administration side of the site. I am still investigating this issue and hope to resolve it soon.

Ok, that's better. Now, go live the rest of last night and today all over again
I downloaded the site backup, extracted the file and then imported it into the database, and that brought most of the threads from 2/21 - 2/25 back. It is somewhat tedious to process a backup in that manner, but whatever works.
It is not Groundhog day anymore

Re: Questions/suggestions/board issues
That's good. You should have edit capability for the Chit Chat forum, but that should not have extended to Announcements.
If all of the moderators could pick a post in this thread that is not their own, and try to edit and post the change, that would be appreciated. Do not delete anything in the original post, just add some simple text to let me know that you were in there and who you are.
Thanks in advance.
edit: My verdict on the last few weeks is that the site code, although functional, is just old. Old is not bad, but it is old.

Re: Questions/suggestions/board issues
I have verified that the following error occurs when voting in a poll, using these styles: rsred, Racin, RS_Vista, and BF_Vista. Halloween will post poll choices, but do not use Halloween. There is an issue with getting back into the User Control Panel. If some good user would not mind switching their style to Holidays, prosilver or subsilver2, and then report the results in this thread, that would be helpful.

Re: Questions/suggestions/board issues
Fixed the permission issue, although it is not a fix so much as it is a bypass. When coding, if something doesn't work, bypass it by ignoring it. It's sloppy, but effective. Why it only effected a small portion of users, is what bothers me.
The green text is what I commented out in the functions.php file. Now, to see if it broke anything else. If something else is broken, there should be no impact on the forum side of the site. This is an ACP side problem.

Re: Questions/suggestions/board issues
A note to our users, eeff and LA Bill.
The User log file shows that both of you changed your passwords on or around February 20, 2020. The recent problems with the database backup should not have impacted that change, but if either of you have any problems logging in, I can reset your passwords so you can login and reset them to your preference.

There are four new styles available. I plan to add more. They need a bit of tweaking in order to get the RS logo's to display. Check them out, they won't break anything. Some of the smilies look rough around the edges.

Re: Questions/suggestions/board issues
That is a good suggestion, but it is on the lower end of the priority list right now. It may not make it in the initial upgrade, but it will be implemented soon, I expect within weeks, but maybe days, if I do not run into complications with the coding breaking other things on the site.Space Potato wrote:Could we have it so if someone posts a link that it opens the link in a new page rather than moving away from this page?

I feel like the number of stars being not the same for everyone is really hurtful to some. Can everyone please have the same number of stars, so those with less stars won't feel lesser of a person than others who have more stars?
Thank you to your prompt attention to this unfortunate, and I'm sure, unintentional slight.

I decided to infect Comrade Bomy with the COVID-SS virus.
Four of the six new users users that registered were of foreign origin. I approved them anyway, with the knowledge that they would out themselves if they were porn hustlers or spammers.
It didn't take long.
In loving memory of Comrade Bomy
