The consensus seems to be that Twitter is the problem, responsible for that message showing up in place of the url information.

For trish

I looked for a digital or analog clock extension with numbers, but have not found one.

FYI: the chat box can be moved to the bottom of the forum via the User Control Panel.

Does anybody notice anything a bit out of sync in the last attachment? :crackup:

Looks like the porn spam attacks have been defeated for now.

Changed the registration process to Q&A. Porn spammers obviously do not know the 4th, 9th and 13th letters of the site url :crackup:

These changes have me all messed up

It keeps making me relog in even to make a post

The format is now horrible on iphone where I spend 99.9% of time posting

Hard to navigate it looks so different.

Not sure what to do but its bad for me. No desktop option for phone which gives me a better view to navigate and read.

I am sorry you are having issues with the site on your iPhone. I tested on my Android, and I was not able to replicate your issue. I do not mean to suggest that you do not have an issue, I just could not replicate it. I posted a thread on the test side. I did notice that it is easy to log out if using your fingers, instead of a stylus. I am assuming that you tried to manually stretch the page. Newer versions of the software that run these forums are designed with mobile devices in mind.

Try to give me more specifics if you can. I will try to see if there are modifications I can make to enable ease of use for you, and any other user that uses a mobile device for a large amount of posting.

I gots a question. Why is there so much empty space ^right up there^?

I hope there’s a plan for ads to compensate you for your many hours of work to improve the experience.

The space where my avatar is displayed, or the space between the border and the end of the posted text?

I will presume the latter. That is the margin space to ensure the signature is displayed at the bottom. The space in my signature is determined by the size of that avatar.

For me on iphone its not good. I need a button that allows me to use “desktop” version on phone. Most sites upgrade for phone and it actually makes it worse for me. I used to see at far right the last post/date but its now gone. In an attempt to make a post it now brings up thousands of options at top and is way more stuff thanI ever need. So I have to sift through it to make a post or find what I want.

I tried all the versions and none work well. Again, I understand that you were forced to upgrade but it just doesn’t work well for me. I lost the “feel” of the site and after many years reading it one way then finally the join option was opened up now it changed lol. Its like a completely different site to me, and I’m lost.

I liked the old functionality but hate the newer upgrade. Too much extra clicking and scrolling.

Try the prosilver-mobile style, and see if that makes any difference.

I did and its a wee bit better but you have to scroll right all the way to China to get to the info out there. Plus some of the options are fuzzy

I recall that you mentioned you would like to have a desktop option to view the site on your phone. By default, web forum software is written to accommodate as many different mobile devices as possible, it is not tailored from development to accommodate any one particular brand. A "desktop option" has to be enabled in the browser, in your case Safari. Or a new style can be written, which is considerably time consuming. I am on the lookout for a written and approved extension as that would be the less time consuming solution. For instance, I often Inspect code when I am testing the software effects on the site pages. There is an option on the menu bar to toggle to "phone mode" or Responsive Design Mode, so I can view the site as it would look on a mobile device. That is controlled by my browser. I do not know whether this is available on your phone, but might be worth a read if you have not already explored this option.

How to Request Desktop Sites on Your iPhone

Are you experiencing a "zoom-in" effect when you browse to the site with that style? Anyway, I made a small change to the code. Let me know how it looks. Does your iPhone have rotate screen capability?

This also may be helpful. It is a bit techie, but it may be of some use.

Configuring the Viewport

This is really techie. The code change I made to try to resolve your browsing issue. See the bottom line in both blocks of code. The first block is the changed code, the second is default.

Code: Select all

<!DOCTYPE html>
<html dir="{S_CONTENT_DIRECTION}" lang="{S_USER_LANG}">
<head>
<meta charset="utf-8" />
<meta http-equiv="X-UA-Compatible" content="IE=edge">
[b]<meta name="viewport" content="width=1200, initial-scale=0.5" />

Code: Select all

<!DOCTYPE html>
<html dir="{S_CONTENT_DIRECTION}" lang="{S_USER_LANG}">
<head>
<meta charset="utf-8" />
<meta http-equiv="X-UA-Compatible" content="IE=edge">
<meta name="viewport" content="width=device-width, initial-scale=1" />
